Tragic Loss of Hertfordshire Police Sergeant Reece Buckenham in A10 Collision

Hertfordshire, UK — The Hertfordshire Constabulary is mourning the loss of Acting Sergeant Reece Buckenham, who tragically passed away in a collision on the A10 southbound carriageway between Rush Green and Great Amwell early on Saturday morning.
The incident, which occurred just before 7am on 29 June, involved a motorbike and a VW Golf. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Reece Buckenham, aged 36, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Reece Buckenham is remembered fondly by his family, friends, and colleagues as a loving son, brother, uncle, and a cherished father to his 10-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter. His family described him as someone who brought joy wherever he went, known for his infectious personality and unwavering dedication to those around him.
Starting his career with the Metropolitan Police Service as a PCSO, Reece fulfilled his dream of becoming a police officer in Hertfordshire, a role he deeply loved and took great pride in. He was due to undergo the promotion process to become a substantive Sergeant, having recently completed a night shift before the tragic accident.
Chief Constable Charlie Hall expressed the force’s deep sorrow at Reece Buckenham’s untimely death, noting his exemplary service and the profound impact he had on his colleagues. Reece was esteemed for his commitment and professionalism in serving the public.
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. They urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler appealed to the public for cooperation: “We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to please come forward.”
