I am Olumuyiwa Idris Fetuga, a 30-year-old international student from Nigeria currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Journalism and Media at the University of Hertfordshire. My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Media and Communications from Afe Babalola University, where I honed my skills in understanding and analyzing media landscapes.
During my undergraduate years, I developed a keen interest in the art of storytelling through visual mediums, leading me to pursue a Diploma in Film Directing at High Definition Film School. This experience equipped me with practical knowledge and techniques in film production, enhancing my ability to create compelling narratives through the lens of a camera.
My passion for media extends beyond academia and into my personal pursuits. I am an aspiring Afrobeat musician, blending traditional African rhythms with contemporary influences to create music that resonates with audiences globally. This creative outlet allows me to express cultural themes and societal issues through a medium that speaks to people on a visceral level.
Aside from music and media, I am actively engaged in lifestyle and fitness activities, valuing a balanced approach to physical and mental well-being. I find joy in exploring various sports, keeping up with the latest movies, delving into literature that challenges perspectives, and advocating for social causes that promote equality and justice.
My diverse interests converge in my academic studies, where I explore the evolving role of journalism and media in shaping societies and bridging cultural divides. I am particularly interested in how media influences public discourse, fosters understanding across diverse communities, and empowers individuals through information dissemination.
Looking ahead, I am driven to leverage my educational background and creative talents to make meaningful contributions to the media industry. Whether through journalistic endeavors, filmmaking projects, or music productions, I aim to amplify underrepresented voices and contribute positively to global cultural dialogue.
